TGIF ~ March 8, 2024
6:00 to 9:00 pm
Cost: $25.00
Topic: New ways of learning: safety, balance, and breathing
Dr. Osa will invite you to look for yourself - find a blind spot or two as
you check out a new “safety screening for balance”, while you are
seated in a chair. Next, try on some new gentle moves to open up your
automatic habits for sitting and maybe find some easier way to sit tall
and breathe in a newly invented fluid and efficient manner. Lastly,
you will find 5 new ways to prepare to get up easier from a chair and
stand evenly on both of your feet as they were designed.
(Bring a yoga mat or blanket and 2 bath towels for positioning as you
may need for all retreats.)
Celebration Sunday ~ March 24, 2024
1:00 to 6:00 pm
Cost: $99.00
Dr. Osa starts with a gentle assessment that you perform to discover
and clarify where you want to grow your capacity for action and
movement today, right now in your life. Pick one activity that you
want to fine tune during this retreat. You will be guided to explore 10
easy ways to enhance and build your capacity to have breath support
movement. Your face is the front of your skull and so much more. You
will be guided to explore the movements for communication and
balance starting with eyes, nose, mouth, tongue and jaw. You will
finish with exploring your partnership with yourself in allowing self -
care to enhance the ease and efficiency of breathing that can support
smiling, talking, laughing, humming, and whistling as you stand and
walk through life.
Celebration Sunday ~ April 21, 2024
12:00 to 6:00 pm
Cost: $99.00
Topic: Stacking the deck for enhanced performance in life, preventing
injuries, and effective balance responses.
Dr. Osa invites you to discover ways you are 1 totally connected being
and it can be more fun to live that way. Starting with your eyes and
head, you will discover ways to empower yourself to cause movement
in a specific action to be easier. Seated, or on your side on your mat,
you will invent some combinations of movements that invite new
learning, ways that leave you freed up to try action patterns of rolling
or turning. Your breathing will be considered a “silent partner”, like
your heart that is required to participate. This allows other action
patterns to be powerful, efficient, and effective whether in sports,
yoga, tai chi, or standing in line. The game of this exploratory learning
is to identify how to stack the deck of action in your favor for powerful
balance reactions as needed.
Celebration Sunday ~ April 28, 2024
12:00 to 6:00 pm
Cost: $99.00
Topic: Posture and efficiency in action - sitting, standing, and
working?
Dr. Osa will invite you to perform an agility inventory on yourself. You
are invited to pick one activity in your life to use as a “before and
after” measure of your new discoveries (mental, emotional, physical
or sensory). A new principle will be introduced and demonstrated on 4
people in the retreat so you can discover that we are all different in
ways we have learned to use our skeleton for any particular task. The
funny part is that we are often not aware of the 500+ options that
exist for performing the same task. Can you pause and observe your
responses to the new learning? How to make self-observation easier?
The finale will be exploring putting language on what we now see as
new in our own process for participation.
Celebration Sunday ~ May 26, 2024
12:00 to 6:00 pm
Cost: $99.00
Topic: Bony loading in action, at rest and during sleep - strategies to
discover postural efficiency and maximize safety, balance, and bone
health.
Dr. Osa will guide you to perform an inventory of your habitual pre-
sleep patterns and activities. A demonstration of preferred starting
positions to fall asleep will be performed and then the entire group
will be guided to explore 3 options they never use to discover blind
spots for why they do not use these simple options for resting. The
breath will be explored while using various techniques like tapping,
vibration, hot and cold temperatures, sniffing, yawning etc. Other
strategies to enhance self-awareness will be demonstrated on 3
participants. The conclusion will be to explore positional tools to
empower postural efficiency in action while sitting and standing.
Celebration Sunday ~ June 9, 2024
12:00 to 6:00 pm
Cost: $99.00
Topic: Exploring balance between eye, skull, neck, spine, and pelvis for
better balance using introduction to Bones for Life® 1 tools developed
by Ruth Alon (inspired by work of Moshe Feldenkrais).
Dr. Osa will introduce and demonstrate basic principles from Bones 1
curriculum and demonstrate 1-1 and in small and large groups with
retreat participants. The movement experiments will be shared and
used to grow functional loading and enhancement of sensory data in
feet, pelvis, and spine. There will be 12 mini-lessons given to explore
and enhance sensory awareness for the pelvis, spine, neck, and skull.
At the completion, there will be a demonstration of the “wrap”
exercise where you are guided to create your own stabilization for
enhanced functional posture for standing and walking.
Celebration Sunday ~ June 23, 2024
12:00 to 6:00 pm
Cost: $99.00
Topic: Bone Health strategies based on Bones for Life 1 will introduce
innovations for building bones through the lifespan. A conversation
will be led on Nutrition, supplements, innovation in exercise
strategies, and new theories for keeping minerals in the body and bio-
available for bone building. Bones for Life 1 sequences will be
reviewed so you can perform and demonstrate accurately for “best”
bony loading. The game is to be able to work in teams with postures
in action that support ongoing bone health. Innovations in bone
building will be presented and conversations about tests that can best
guide you and your coach, nutritionist, and or physician.
(A certificate for participation in Bones for Life 1 will be presented for
all persons participating on June 9 and the June 26 retreat).
All persons completing Bones 1 will be eligible to participate in Bones
2 in the fall of 2024.
NOTE: A printed manual for Bones for Life® 1 will be presented at June
